PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Sucre is the constitutional capital of Bolivia and is located in the inter-Andean valley of southern Bolivia the city has been declared a Unesco World Heritage Site due to its colonial history.One day 1.- We tour the city and learn about its history by visiting the Casa de la Libertad, the Recoleta museum and la Glorieta Palace, as well as key public plazas and monuments in the afternoon we set off for a 156 kms journey to Potosi, an equally important city in Bolivia´s history. Potosi is one of the world´s highest cities, Potosi was declared a Unesco World Heritage site in 1987 as well, it is at an altitude of 4100m was the most important and richest in America during the XVI, XVII centuries for Spanish crown and for all over the world. Once we arrive to Potosí we will check-in to our hotel and have the rest of the evening.
The following day and after breakfast we head to Cerro Rico where the infamous silver mines of Potosi are located. We will visit the mine opening and for intrepid travelers you will be able to head into a mine and see the hard labor of miners, more later we return to the center for begin the city tour through its colonial streets and churches, can´t miss the “Casa de Moneda” (Royal Mint) where hundreds of thousands of silver coins were minted before being transported overland to coastal cities and then shipped to Europe, Asia and elsewhere at the end of the day, tired and enriched we can help you continue on to Uyuni or wherever else you may be headed.
